From Our Hands to Your Home: The Story Behind Our Handcrafted Irish Serving Boards
From Our Hands to Your Home: The Story Behind Our Handcrafted Irish Woodcraft
Craftsmanship Rooted in Heritage
In the heart of Offaly, our small father-and-son joinery workshop is keeping a proud tradition alive. With a passion for native Irish woods and timeless craftsmanship, we create handmade serving boards, chopping boards, and unique furniture pieces that celebrate both heritage and sustainability.
Every board we make begins with a story. We carefully hand-pick Irish hardwoods — ash, oak, beech, and more — chosen for their natural beauty and unique character. Each piece of wood carries its own history, from the grain patterns shaped by Irish seasons to the rich textures revealed during hand-finishing.
We never use templates or CNC machines. Every piece is individually shaped by hand and hand-finished, ensuring that no two boards are ever the same. By combining traditional woodworking techniques with modern functionality, we create pieces that are both beautiful and practical — whether it’s a chopping board for daily use, a pizza board for family gatherings, or a bespoke piece of furniture.
Sustainable by Nature
Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. By working with locally sourced Irish woods and using eco-friendly finishes like Rubio Monocoat oil, we honour the land that inspires us. Each creation is made to last — a piece to be used, loved, and passed down, rather than discarded.
When you choose one of our boards, you’re not just buying a product; you’re supporting a way of working that values nature, tradition, and authenticity.
Every Board Has a Name
Our boards aren’t mass-produced. They’re individual works of art, each with its own name and personality, inspired by Irish heritage:
- The Brí Board — our round pizza board in mahogany & Irish maple, strong and generous for sharing.
- The Shannon Board — a long serving board crafted from mahogany, Irish maple & elm, graceful and flowing like Ireland’s longest river.
- The Fiadh Board — a bold black Irish ash serving board, finished with Rubio Monocoat for a deep, protective tone.
- The Saoirse Board — a live-edge Irish ash board that embraces the wood’s natural, organic form.
- The Ériu Board — a pale live-edge board in Irish sycamore, light, elegant, and timeless.
- The Nádúr Board — our classic everyday live-edge Irish ash board, simple, versatile, and durable.
Each one is handmade, hand-finished, and truly unique — no two will ever be the same.
Beyond Boards: Unique Irish Furniture
While our serving boards have found homes around Ireland and beyond, our creativity doesn’t stop there. We also design and build one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, crafted with the same care, skill, and respect for wood as our boards. These timeless pieces bring warmth and authenticity into homes, becoming part of everyday life and family stories.
Bringing Irish Craftsmanship to Your Table
In a world of fast production, we believe in slowing down — in making something meaningful, something lasting. Our boards and furniture are not just objects; they’re expressions of Irish heritage, sustainability, and family craftsmanship.
When you welcome one of our creations into your home, you’re not just adding a functional piece — you’re inviting in a story, a tradition, and a little piece of Ireland.
